Call Before You Dig! BC One Call
Before starting your fence installation, it’s crucial to call before you dig. This step helps you check for underground services, which is essential when you’re digging post holes. While the response may not show every underground line, it will identify important ones like natural gas, communication lines (like Rogers, Shaw, and Telus), and city services (sewer and water).
Important Note! The response from BC One Call usually shows only the general location of these underground services.
As the property owner or, more specifically the person digging, it’s your (or our) responsibility to know exactly where these lines are. You might have drawings and measurements, but often, you’ll need to use a locating tool for a more precise location.
Once you’ve marked the general area of the underground lines, the next step is to carefully hand dig to expose them. Emphasizing caution is key! Only when you can see the line can you be sure of its exact position.
