Amanda & Graham Watson, GEM Quality Homes Testimonial: Project Profile

Overview

GEM Quality Homes is a well-known North Okanagan builder with a reputation for award-winning homes. We’ve been working with them since 2021, supplying fences and gates that meet the same high standards their clients expect.

The projects have ranged from simple, functional chain link on spec homes to a 300-foot composite fence, the largest project we’ve done with GEM (so far). Composite has become popular for homeowners because it looks sharp, there’s almost zero maintenance, and the solid panels help reduce noise around outdoor living spaces.

Most of GEM’s jobs have been run by our foreman, Kris Grout, who knows their process inside and out. His leadership on-site means installs are smooth, tidy, and wrapped up without slowing down other trades.

“Yes, we would definitely recommend Boundary Fencing. I mean, not only because he’s a friend—Amanda’s known him since high school—but because he gives excellent service. I don’t think I’d recommend anyone else but Boundary Fencing.”

Project Overview

Client Name: GEM Quality Homes
Project Name: GEM Quality Homes Partnership
Project Type: Composite & Chain Link Fence Installations
Location: North Okanagan (Vernon to Sicamous)
Size/Scope: Multiple projects, including a 300ft composite installation
Timeline: Flexible to builder schedules and subtrade coordination
Completion Date: Ongoing relationship since 2021

Why the Project was Needed

For GEM’s clients, fencing isn’t an afterthought. It’s the final piece that delivers:

  • Privacy and security for high-end properties
  • Clean finishes that complement luxury builds
  • Long-lasting boundaries with little to no maintenance
  • Sound-dampening from composite panels, creating quieter yards and patios

Project Highlights

Vernon (East Hill): Chain link fence on a residential build.

Swansea Point (Mara Lake): Composite fence providing privacy and noise reduction.

Sicamous: Composite fencing for another high-end home, designed to act as a privacy screen and sound barrier.

Armstrong: Chain link fencing for a spec home, built to balance cost and function.

Why It Stood Out

This isn’t a single project; it’s an ongoing partnership. GEM Quality Homes knows they can count on us to adjust to their timelines and keep their clients happy. Builders deal with enough moving parts; fencing shouldn’t be one of their stress points.

For us, the standout has been the shift toward composite fencing on higher-end homes. The 300-foot composite fencing project showed just how much value composite brings in terms of looks and creating quieter, more private outdoor spaces. Composite has become a go-to solution for GEM’s clientele, and we’re proud to help bring it to life.

Challenges and Solutions

Builder schedules move fast: We adapt to GEM’s timelines so other trades aren’t held up.

High client expectations: Every install is finished clean, level, and ready to complement a custom build.

Challenging terrain: Layouts are planned carefully, with a close eye on difficult areas.

Results

  • Multiple successful installs since 2021
  • A strong builder relationship built on trust and consistency
  • High-quality composite and chain link fences that add real value to GEM’s homes
  • More awareness of composite fencing as a low-maintenance, sound-reducing option for estate properties
